FALL BREAK

Next week is Fall Break for many students. We'd love to see you guys at Dinosaur World on your time off! I know that it's hard for many parents to take a lot of time off now, but if you want something fun and educational for a fall break trip stop by and say hello to our dinosaurs. We're open year round and fall is a great time to be outdoors.

raptor teeth

Although Jurassic Park depicted raptors as larger dinosaurs, they were actually about the size of a large dog. We have authentic raptor teeth and replica claws on display at our museum. Our Florida location released a "raptor pack" just last year including Oviraptors, Velociraptors and a Dilophosaurus.

Gastroliths

Here's a bit of dinosaur trivia for you... Did you know that some plant eating dinosaurs had gastroliths? A gastrolith is also called a stomach stone. It is a rock held inside a gastrointestinal tract. They were used to grind food in the dinosaurs that needed a bit of help digesting the plant material. In our Prehistoric Museum, we have authentic gastroliths that came from the stomach of some of these huge plant eaters.

If you're like me, you're asking how do scientists know these aren't just regular smooth rocks? Because they've been found so many times in fossils of dinosaurs that scientists say they are not just a coincidence. And, because some animals have gastoliths today.

It's neat to hold a stone that's been in a dinosaur stomach. See all the cool things you can do at Dinosaur World?!

Triceratops fact

Dinosaur Fact = Did you know that the enormous, thick bones of a Triceratops skull meant that is was far more likely to survive fossilization than most? You can see an excellent example of this in our skeleton garden...

In 1988, a creature was found in a rock bed

Best bathrooms around!

I was recently approached by a writer who was compiling information for a book on "best bathrooms". She heard that our bathrooms were unique. I told her that our entire park was unique and that included the bathrooms! I thought this would be a fun fact to share with you all. So, just in case you haven't seen our bathrooms, here you go...

Road Trip!

This weekend in Kentucky is the annual Corvette Caravan. So, welcome corvettes! For those of you in Texas and Florida - Bowling Green, Kentucky is the only place those beautiful cars are made. The National Corvette Museum and assemble plant is about 30 minutes away from our Kentucky Dinosaur World. We'll welcome all corvette's and their owners.

"Let's take a road trip!" is something my friends and I would say in college all the time. Now, that I'm a mom, I still take lots of road trips, just the method changes a bit. Dinosaur World fits into all road trips. So, be it in a corvette, caravan, camero, charger or camry, we're fun for all!

I'm back!

I'm back from a great vacation in Charleston, South Carolina! I love vacations big and small, so that leads me into saying... why not take your family on a mini vacation to Dinosaur World?!

Since I've been gone, we've added a new indoor fossil dig to the giftshop in Kentucky. During the winter months, we hold an indoor fossil dig instead of the outside one due to the weather. This new indoor fossil dig is very preshistoric looking and has much more room for lots more fossils. All our locations are open year around.
